I remember my first session with Michelle. She took me through a guided visualization to meet my younger self and within moments I was shaking and crying. It was without doubt one of the most intense "therapy" sessions I've ever had. But, it cracked me open in a way that was imperative to my healing journey.
Michelle is an incredible psychotherapist who believes strongly in the power of merging all of our various self states with love and compassion. When we're struggling with sabotaging behavior or negative feelings, we often want to run away and hide or even kill off those sides of us, but according to Michelle, that only keeps us trapped longer.
Michelle and I talk about the emotional component of overcoming compulsive behavior and self-hatred via channeling our younger selves and grounding down in awareness in the moment of reaction. We jam specifically on binge eating, since we both struggled with that in the past, but you can really apply this to any bad habit or element of yourself you're trying to heal.
We also touch on a host of other juicy topics from conscious parenting to somatic therapy to releasing our shame to others. All in all, AWESOME interview and I'm honored to share it with you.
